Sonja Hartmann Originals are created in Germany by Sonja & Hagen Hartmann in the tradition of fine German craftsmanship. Every doll is hand painted by Sonja herself. Each doll bears Sonja's signature and an exclusive, limited edition number, which guarantee the authenticity of each creation. Selected bisque porcelain is sanded by hand to accentuate the very fine detailing. The porcelain painting is refined in several ultra thin layers and multiple kiln firings. The vinyl slip is custom made in Germany, according to the Hartmanns's own formula, to achieve a special hardness and distinctive smoothness. The costumes are tailored, in exceptional detail, with hand-smocking and hand-embroidery. The dolls wigs are made from refined human hair.
